Have Some Fun
I’ve talked a lot about survival the last few days because it’s important to survive. This is a good policy to remember: “If your fun is fatal, you can’t have any more of it.”
Still, one giant reason I keep coming back to Burning Man every year is that it’s a huge amount of fun.
The sense of play that pervades the atmosphere out here is amazing. Exploration of this strange environment we’ve created, discovering new people and adventures… most everyone out here took great pains to get here, to make something happen, and what we’re doing is both celebration itself and a reason to celebrate.The Man Burns in 2 days.

That sense of play isn’t something exclusive to Burning Man – it’s something that I try to cultivate at home too. This CrossFit stuff is fun. It sucks, yes – but ultimately it’s a lot of fun (and it gets results) or else we wouldn’t keep doing it. Play with it!Today as you attack the sprints, think about how much fun it is to run so fast. Little kids run around as fast as they can for the sheer joy of it! When did we lose that joy? Let’s run as fast as we can today and get a kick out of it.

Split Jerk: 95# PR. I got 4 @ 100# (which is also a PR), so I’m stoked.
WOD: 4 rounds # 9 B&R banded pullups + 2 ring dips
My running during WODs is progressing from ‘slow as molasses’ to ‘slow as molasses cut with a little maple syrup.’ Progress is progress.
There’s no better motivation during a running WOD than wanting to get back inside ASAP so you could hear as much Welcome to the Jungle as possible. Butt Rock is by far the best genre for workouts. Amiright?

That muscle up is close. I can taste it.
