Today offers us the opportunity to work on one of my favorite skills (insert sarcastic tone here): double unders.  I implore you – even if you feel competent at them, spending some time working on the basics can still help build your efficiency and leave you less beaten up by them in the midst of a workout.  Special bonus here as well: if you did the double under skill session on 9/7/13 and recorded your score for tabata double unders, you’ll have a chance to improve your score today!  (yayyyy!  Wait, was that sarcasm?  I don’t even know anymore.)

After, we’ll be getting into a WOD that looks very similar to the one we did the last time double unders came up as a skill.  This time, however, the emphasis will be on load over volume.  Also, we won’t be making you run, though the option will be there for you if you want it.  Who’s feeling crazy?

Skill:

Double unders

WOD:

4 rounds
10 Bodyweight Back Squats
400m run or 500m row

23 double-unders – PR! Thanks for shortening my jump rope Nick!

WOD: 16:33rx (125#) glad I pushed myself to do this rx even if I did struggle through the rowing (which btw I think is more challenging than running – never thought I’d be saying that)

Ooof, these backsquats felt horrible after yesterday’s sandbags. But the all-Babe-raham 7:30am class helped me get through with their inspiring hard work.

Also, I’d accidentally been rowing 400m until the last round, when I realized it and set out to make up the missing meters. The last 300m or so felt like FLYING, my form was so much better. Nice to find the silver lining on the tough days!

74 double unders – the first round got 20 in a row which was a huge huge PR the most I’ve ever strung was 10

WOD: @ bw 115# and running. Duh. 12:34 Rx

    WOD: @ bodyweight 145# 13:29 running RX!

13:29 was one of my best times for the 2 mile race in highschool. hah!
