Set a pace
Let’s face it – going hard is one of the reasons we do this. Ā It can feel great to bare down on a WOD and get out all of the day’s/week’s stress through hard physical work. Ā As we advance as athletes, however, we’ll find that we can build more ability (especially over the long term) by having a deliberate approach to our pacing.
This week, we’ll be focusing on not only going hard, but peaking wisely and avoiding hitting the wall to early. Ā This doesn’t mean we’ll be taking it easy – on the contrary, this will take much more focus and awareness in our own abilities and how our state constantly shifts throughout a workout. Ā Start by finding a challenging but maintainable pace and build from there, so it feels like the last round is the last one you’d be able to complete.

WOD:
5 rounds
14 dumbbell snatches (alt)
7 burpees
focus: pacing. Ā pause briefly at the set up of each rep to a) make sure your back is aligned and tight and b) to allow a consistent pace thatĀ buildsĀ throughout the WOD without long, non-moving breaks.
