Using Our Built Capacity

One of the great things about all the Functional Fitness that we’re developing here is not just that we’re overall better at doing things in the world, but also that we’re more familiar with our capabilities and have a bigger toolbox of physical skills to deploy in a variety of situations.

On a related note, one of the great things about the emphasis we put into various training cycles here at CrossFit Somerville is that we can include more higher-skill movements right after we’ve finished working on them. For example, this is the second time this week that we’ve been able to confidently throw Bar Muscle Ups into the WOD programming. Many of you got your muscle-ups in the last cycle, but all of you learned ways to get over the bar – so use that scale you developed over the last few months to get over the bar today as part of your WOD!

And if you’re one of the new friends who just joined up? Don’t you worry just one bit. All of your coaches here are ready and willing to help you figure out how to take the prescribed workout movements today and adapt them to make sure you have a great (and safe) WOD.
